FIELD WORK FOR SOIL TESTING

Before starting detailed investigation, a site reconnaissance is conducted to understand surface conditions, accessibility, existing structures, drainage patterns, and any visible signs of soil instability. This helps in planning the investigation program effectively.

Boreholes are drilled at selected locations to explore subsurface soil and rock strata. Drilling is performed using appropriate methods depending on soil type, groundwater conditions, and required depth. All borehole locations and depths are recorded accurately.

Representative soil and rock samples are collected during drilling for laboratory testing. Both disturbed and undisturbed samples are obtained to evaluate engineering properties such as strength, compressibility, and permeability.

Field tests are conducted directly at the site to assess soil behavior under natural conditions. These tests provide valuable data that cannot be obtained from laboratory testing alone and help in verifying subsurface conditions.

Groundwater levels are measured during and after drilling. Seasonal variations and groundwater behavior are carefully observed, as they play an important role in foundation design and slope stability.

All soil layers, sample depths, test results, and field observations are logged systematically by experienced personnel. Detailed field records ensure accuracy and reliability of the geotechnical report.

All field activities are carried out following safety guidelines and quality control procedures. Equipment is regularly checked, and work is supervised by qualified engineers to maintain high investigation standards.
